Volkswagen clearly understood the assignment when redesigning its family SUV. The 2027 VW Atlas arrives with a sharper look, a more sophisticated cabin, and practical upgrades that make everyday driving feel a little less ordinary. There's room for the family, enough muscle for weekend adventures, and technology that doesn't make you work hard to enjoy it. This isn't just a facelift. Volkswagen has given its spacious SUV a proper rethink.

A family SUV shouldn't feel overwhelmed when everyone and everything comes along. The 2027 VW Atlas features a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI engine producing 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It also delivers up to 5,000 pounds of braked towing capacity, making it useful for hauling a trailer on weekend trips. Volkswagen estimates combined fuel consumption at 10.0 L/100 km, balancing everyday practicality with capable performance.
Some SUVs advertise three rows but make the last one feel like an afterthought. Volkswagen takes a more practical approach with comfortable third-row seating and easy access through a sliding and tilting second row. The Atlas offers seven-passenger seating or an available six-passenger configuration with captain's chairs. Its spacious second-row bench can also accommodate three child seats side by side, making school runs and family outings much easier to organize.

The redesigned dashboard feels refreshingly modern. An available 15-inch infotainment touchscreen takes centre stage, while the standard Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro keeps essential driving information directly ahead. Standard dual Qi2 wireless charging lets compatible phones power up together, eliminating the usual argument over who gets the charging spot. Available Harman Kardon premium audio adds another welcome upgrade for music-filled road trips.
Cold Canadian mornings are considerably nicer with the right cabin features. The Atlas offers heated and ventilated front seats, available heated and ventilated second-row seating, and available Nappa leather front seats with a massage function. A panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting add a more upscale atmosphere. Even smaller details, including standard rear window shades and convenient storage compartments, show that Volkswagen has considered how families actually use their vehicles.
From camping equipment to hockey bags, the Atlas has the flexibility to handle busy schedules. With up to 2,701 litres of cargo capacity, there's substantial room when the rear seats are folded. The easy-open and easy-close liftgate also helps when you're loading groceries or luggage. It's practical without making the interior feel like a delivery van.
The updated IQ.DRIVE suite brings useful driver assistance to the daily routine. Standard features include Active Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist Plus. Front and rear parking sensors help with tighter spaces, while an available Area View 360-degree camera system provides additional visibility when manoeuvring. These features are designed to assist attentive drivers rather than replace their judgment.
Three rows, endless possibilities. The 2027 VW Atlas turns every drive into an occasion, from school mornings to mountain weekends. Our team at Country Hills Volkswagen is ready to hand you the keys and book your test drive.
